About Kidsy Island
A small island with two shores: joyful learning videos for children, and honest, practical guides for the grown-ups who love them.
What Kidsy Island is
Kidsy Island began as a YouTube channel for children ages 2–6, hosted by Kiko, a scarlet macaw with endless questions. Every episode is built the same way: Kiko asks, the video pauses so children can shout their answer, a chorus of kids answers together, and Kiko celebrates and says the full phrase. Colors, numbers, the alphabet, animal sounds — learned actively, the way young children actually learn.
Parents kept writing to the channel with their own questions. How do I teach phonics without turning evenings into a battle? Is my child ready for kindergarten? Why does preschool cost more than our rent did? This site — Kidsy Island Parent Guide — is our answer: a companion written entirely for adults, while the videos stay entirely for kids.
What you'll find here
- Learn at Home — short routines, like our 15-minute phonics plan, that fit real family schedules.
- Preschool Readiness & Costs — the skills teachers actually look for, and honest 2026 pricing data for the US, with notes for European families too.
- Learning Apps & Screen Time — parent-tested free apps and household rules designed to be keepable.
- Educational Toys & Tools — fewer, better toys, and the confidence to skip the rest.
- Free Printables — checklists and routine cards, free with no email wall.
How we write
Every guide is original, researched against primary sources where numbers are involved (national childcare price surveys, paediatric guidance from bodies such as the AAP and WHO), and tested or reviewed by parents of under-6s before publication. When we estimate, we say so. When a product is listed, it's because it passed our tests, not because anyone paid for placement — if that ever changes, it will be labelled clearly.
Who this site is for
Parents, grandparents, and carers of children ages 2–6, primarily in the United States and Europe, reading in English. Prices are given in US dollars with European context where it helps. Guidance is general educational information, not medical or financial advice — for concerns about your own child, your paediatrician and their teachers know them best.
